Wedding: Matt & Kendrah
Matt and Kendrah’s wedding took place on a very cold day in January at the lovely Scioto Reserve Country Club. When I say not a detail was missed…I mean it!! Thanks to Kendrah’s mom, Anne, literally every detail was tended to with all different shades of purple throughout.
As you view Matt and Kendrah’s pictures, I’d like to share several special things to notice…
- Kendrah surprised Matt with a special song as she and her dad walked up the aisle with a little “jig” in their step.
- Kendrah made and iced their wedding cake. She also made her veil.
- After Matt and Kendrah were pronounced “husband and wife” the guests threw flower petals as they exited the ceremony.
- At the reception they drank from a traditional Nuernberg Wedding Cup which is a “double cup.” They also had several special choreographed dances.
A little over a week before Matt and Kendrah’s day, Matt’s father passed away. Many prayers were lifted for this family. Matt wore this necklace that his dad gave to him…on the back it says “I am here.” What a special reminder of his father’s love for him amid the joy and sadness.
This Bible and hankie has been at the weddings of Matt’s family for generations.
Each guest was given a special glass to commemorate Matt and Kendrah’s day.
I don’t very often share pictures of the guests, but this picture of their grandparents is too sweet not to share!
It is said that the tradition of the Nuernberg Wedding Cup is that the one who finishes the drink in their cup first is the one who will “wear the pants” in the home! As you can see, Kendrah won. 😉
SO MANY fun dance shots!!
Thank you, Deborah Beachy, for second shooting for me and all your help! You truly rock the camera!
Wedding: Nathan & Kaylee
Dorral Farm, Marysville Ohio
Nathan and Kaylee’s day had a striking mix of elegance and country. Their day was the perfect way to end my 2015 wedding season! Thank you, Nathan and Kaylee, for allowing me to capture the memories of your special day!
Here’s the story of their day…
Kaylee and her girls got ready at the Hampton Inn in Marysville.
Nathan and his guy got dressed at his mom’s house. Kaylee had a special gift delivered to Nathan the morning of their wedding…a watch.
After a first look with her father, Kaylee met Nathan at the Mill Creek covered bridge for their “first look” and portraits.
Dorral Farm was a beautiful location for their ceremony and reception. The outdoor ceremony literally glowed with the sunlight and golden fall colors!
Nathan’s brother couldn’t make it, so his dad read a letter from him.
Nathan and Kaylee had a special dance with their grandparents.
Kaylee’s parents recently celebrated 25 years of marriage! There was a special dance dedicated to them.
Thank you to Deborah Beachy for second shooting for me!
Wedding: Nick & Rachel
Nick and Rachel’s ceremony and reception took place at Rachel’s childhood home. Even though it rained early in the day it turned out to be a gorgeous afternoon and evening!
I love how each wedding is unique and has its own twist of beauty. Nick and Rachel’s ceremony took place at 6:30 p.m. and they did not do a “first look”, so we didn’t have much daylight after the ceremony for pictures; however, we did have the golden sun shining down on them with yellow and pink hues in the sky to accent Rachel’s soft pink dress.
The sweet joy of the day was so evident in Rachel’s excited, full-of-joy smile, Nick’s eyes as they welled with tears as she walked down the aisle, and Rachel’s father’s looks of admiration as he watched his little girl. I’ll allow the pictures to tell the story of the day…
In loving memory of Rachel’s mother.
Rachel’s friend made these DELICIOUS treats!
Best worm EVER!!!
Special thanks to my assistant, Jenell Shrock, for all your help through the busy wedding season!
Wedding: Winston & Lydia
Winston and Lydia’s day took place at Lydia’s home with an outdoor ceremony and reception. After the day was over and I was editing their pictures the phrase, “Take my breath away,” kept going through my head. There was so much simple beauty and love woven throughout the day…not just Winston and Lydia’s love, but family love, too.
Allow me to walk you through the day…
Winston’s dog tags with the rings.
Their “first look” took place at a bridge up the road from where Lydia grew up. It has been a special place for Winston and Lydia.
Love, a beautiful sky, a wild field…need I say more!!
I have several favorites…this is one of them. Lydia, you are beautiful!
Both Winston and Lydia’s families are pictures of LOVE. It was touching for me to see and made an impression that has stuck with me.
Ahhh, you didn’t realize he had a little tie, did you?!? It was a mistake, but didn’t seem to bother Winston.
Prayer of blessing before the ceremony.
A few years ago Lydia’s dad gave this necklace to her…a promise necklace. During the ceremony Lydia’s dad removed the necklace and gave it to Winston.
What fun decor props! A canoe for the drinks and a wheel barrow for the ice sticks!
Their vehicle was FULLY decorated!
2015 was the year of the “whip and nae nae.” I wonder how many times I heard it at all of my weddings?! 🙂
The key was hidden among all of the balloons…they found it! (bottom picture)
Thank you to Jenell Shrock and Shirlene Justus for assisting me today!
Wedding: Aaron & Erica
Bellefontaine, Ohio and Kenton, Ohio
Aaron and Erica wedding took place on a beautiful August day…I mean look at that blue sky and puffy clouds! The ceremony was at Saint Patrick Church and the reception at the castle-looking Hardin County Armory in Kenton, Ohio.
Okay, maybe it’s mean of me to share this picture, but it’s fun to catch out-of-the-blue moments like this. Please don’t judge me! 😉
The Unity Cross
A big thanks to Jenell Shrock for second shooting for me today!
Wedding: Brad & Lauren
The Pinnacle Golf Club, Grove City Ohio
Brad and Lauren were high school sweethearts and dated for nearly ten years! Their hashtag for the day was #FinallytheMillers Brad and Lauren had a beautiful day…not a detail was missed! But their day was about so much more than the details, it was about love and family which was beautiful to watch. Hopefully as you look through these pictures it will give you a little taste of the “spirit of family” that was so evident all throughout their day.
This ring was placed on Lauren’s mom’s finger by her mother the day she got married.
In loving memory of Lauren’s grandmother. Lauren’s resemblance of her grandmother is striking!
The Unity Tree Ceremony involved Brad and Lauren’s parents pouring dirt from their childhood homes into the tree, and then Brad and Lauren watered it.
The red and black decor for the reception was so classy! Each guest received chocolates made by Brad’s mom and a lottery ticket! I wonder how many people got lucky! 😉
Brad and his mom did the BEST mother/son dance I’ve ever seen! They started out by slow dancing and then surprised everyone with a choreographed dance! And, yes, she did it all with a walking cast/boot!!
Going into the day I knew this family likes to dance, and they didn’t disappoint! Lots of fun was had on the dance floor! They even pulled me out for a tiny bit with all my camera gear on! 😉
Special thanks to Jenell Shrock for second shooting for me today!
Wedding: Greg & Erika
The Ohio Statehouse and WatersEdge Event Center
Two words that I feel best describe Greg and Erika’s day are elegant and regal. The day started with the girls getting dressed at Erika’s house and guys at Greg’s…
We then made our way to The Ohio Statehouse for their first look and portraits… Doesn’t Erika look like a princess!
WatersEdge Events Center in Hilliard, Ohio, would be the destination for the rest of the day. If you can remember June, 2015, you’ll remember the massive amounts of rain that we got! Greg and Erika’s ceremony was supposed to take place outdoors, but was moved inside due to the weather. We were able to capture a few outdoor shots amid the wind and clouds.
Erika loves to bake! The goodies tables was a showcase of her baking abilities!
I absolutely loved their guestbook! Everyone stamped and signed their fingerprint on the tree.
I love this shot. Being the mother of two sons, the Mother/Son dance gets to me sometimes…so special!
The Ohio University group! I’ve learned that OU alumni are very faithful to their alma mater!!Special thanks to Deborah Beachy for second shooting for me today!
Wedding: AJ & Mikaela
What do you do when it rains like crazy and you have an outdoor ceremony/tent reception planned…the tent is flooded and the dance floor floating ?? (See flooded tent below!) Well, if you’re AJ and Mikaela you roll with the punches, pull on your rain boots (or go barefoot!), and don’t let it ruin your day! Considering all the elements their day faced, it couldn’t have gone any better! They were still able to have an outdoor ceremony and reception…just not in the tent or grass! 😉
I think their day is a good reminder that we can try so hard to plan the “perfect wedding,” but in the end all that really matters is that you’re marrying the one you love. The decor, pinterest ideas, food, etc. is great, but whether rain or shine enjoying your day to the fullest and starting your life together is all that really matters!
Their entire day took place at Mikaela’s grandparents house. Here’s a glimpse into their day…enjoy!
Oh my…all the water! 🙁 Notice the dance floor in the bottom picture.
This is Mikaela’s Mustang…a gift from her grandpa.
Who needs to cut a cake? How about an apple pie!
Thank you to Jenell Shrock for “getting your feet wet” (literally…modeled above!) and second shooting for me today!
