Alex & Kara’s Lightning Tree Barn Wedding
Circleville, Ohio
Alex and Kara tied the knot a few weeks ago! People from numerous states across the country traveled to celebrate with them on their super hot and joy-filled day! Here’s a little peek into their love story and the story of their day…
Alex and Kara met in Philadelphia and on their first coffee date chatting and relating with each other came easy. Kara shared that she wanted the theme of their day to be “bathed in prayer.” What a great way to start your marriage! Kara gave Alex this tie clip. Inscribed on the back it says, “I get to love you 5.27.18” Their first dance as husband and wife was to the song “I get to love you” by Ruelle. Currently, they call Philly home while Alex continues his studies to become a Podiatrist. Alex was originally from Tennessee and Kara from Ohio, so a wedding in Circleville, Ohio at Lightning Tree Barn was the setting of their big day.First look! Kara, you’re stunning!! Different shoes you may ask? Here’s the story…while they were dating Kara was training for a marathon and Alex couldn’t neglect his studies. The solution? Kara would run and Alex would ride his bike a few miles ahead, sit down to study and then when Kara would make it to him he’d be there ready with water! Sounds like a pretty good break to me! So…if they’re runners we might as well take a few running pictures, right?!! Ceremony time! If you were in Ohio over Memorial Day weekend, you may remember the 90 degree weather we had that weekend. Yep…the second story of the barn was beautiful, but a bit toasty. 🙂 I wish someone would have taken the exact temperature, but my guess would be at least 105ish! Alex and Kara washed each other’s feet during their ceremony. Jesus also washed His disciples’ feet as an example of love and being a servant of all in John 13:1-17. For Alex and Kara it was a symbol of putting the other first, love and devotion. Congratulations Mr. & Mrs. Pilkinton! Kara’s friends have passed the & symbol pictured below from wedding to wedding. It’s been painted a different color for each wedding and Kara had to carry on the tradition!
Thank you to Andrew Weber of Andrew E. Weber Photography for second shooting Alex and Kara’s wedding with me.
Thaddeus & Cherie’s Wedding, Plain City Ohio
Thad and Cherie’s May wedding day was filled with smiles and beauty. Seriously, I’m not sure I’ve ever seen a bride smile as much as Cherie! Here’s the story of their day in pictures…
Our day began at Cherie’s house. The peonies were blooming outside and complimented Cherie’s colors beautifully! The first look took place beside the Little Darby Creek, which just happens to be in Thad’s backyard. It’s such a lovely setting! As a surprise gift to Thad, Cherie gave him the journal she’d been keeping over the time they were dating. It was a hot and sunny day, and even a little bit buggy with the pesky insects down by the creek. Honestly, I don’t think I’ve seen so many people swatting at bugs during pictures. Haha! But that didn’t dampen the joy of the day! The ceremony and reception took place at United Bethel Mennonite Church in Plain City, Ohio. The original plan was to have the reception by the creek at Thad’s home, but due to a rainy weather forecast the reception was brought indoors. It was a good move, because we would have gotten rained on! Congratulations, Mr. and Mrs. Eichorn!!
Special thanks to Deborah Beachy of DG Photography (also Cherie’s cousin!) for second shooting. As always, she’s amazing!

Creekside Gahanna and Everal Barn
Alex and Noel’s engagement session took place on a perfect spring evening! The sun glowed beautifully on Noel’s long blonde hair! Fun fact: both Alex and Noel took their senior portraits at Creekside Gahanna, so they thought it’d be fun to use the same location together. We also made a stop at Everal Barn; such a unique and eye-catching barn. We’re all looking forward to their September, 2018 wedding! Congratulations, Alex and Noel!

Home Birth Story
I love photographing births! When Katelyn contacted me months ago about their home birth, you can guess how excited I was! While I’ve photographed numerous hospital births, this was my first one in a home!
The story…
Joe and Katelyn’s first two children came so quickly they didn’t even have time to make it to the hospital! Joe and Katelyn delivered their first two by themselves, but decided to pursue a planned home birth this time. Considering how quickly Katelyn’s labor and deliveries had gone in the past, I was praying I’d make it in time! The midwives and I arrived in time to find Katelyn on her bed, happy and chill! But like both of her other birth experiences it didn’t last long! One thing that stood out to me about the home birth experience was the atmosphere and spirit of family. The older kids were amazing at playing and entertaining themselves. Then after the baby was born they were right there with mom, dad and the baby together as a family. When it was time for the baby to be born it all happened VERY quickly and Katelyn ended up having the baby on her knees in the middle of the bathroom! I love the picture below!! Just take in all that’s happening…mom’s holding their new baby boy while breathing a sigh of relief, dad’s over with big sister, and the midwife in the background is checking the time of the birth. Katelyn thought it might feel good to sit in the tub a bit after Dominic was born…I was super glad for the beautiful photo op! 🙂 Welcome to the family little one! Big brother wanted to capture some pictures with his camera, too! Big sister loved sitting with mom and the baby on the bed. She said, “I pet him!” 🙂 The Choice Midwives were great! I appreciated watching their expertise and attention to both the health and care of mom and baby.

Class of 2018
Sarah LOVES winter and snow, so when we happened to have snow on the ground the beginning of January we just had to get a session in before it melted (little did we know that we’d actually have quite a snowy winter ahead of us for central Ohio! 😉 ) Not only was it snowy for Sarah’s session, but it was COLD! In fact it was 19 degrees with a feeling of 5!! You wouldn’t know from the pictures that Sarah was cold…her stunning eyes, long blonde hair, and pops of color looked beautiful in the snowy settings!
Wedding: Zachary & Arika
Zach and Arika’s winter wedding was a day filled with sweet love and joy, beauty, laughter and tears, and making the most of the cold and rainy weather.
Allow me to share the story of their day captured through pictures…
The ceremony and reception took place at Zach and Arika’s church, United Bethel Mennonite Church. The setting complimented the colors incorporated in the wedding details nicely. You never know what to expect with the weather, so you make your plans and then roll with what comes your way! Our original plan was to spend most of our time on a farm in a setting with pines and snow, but when it was time to leave for the first look it was raining. So we were off to The Barn on Chapel Road for protection from the rain and a great setting to still obtain a few outdoor pictures, but under cover!
I love the smiles during their first look!
The rain stopped for a few minutes, so we decided to hop over to the farm with the pine trees, only to catch a few pictures before it started raining again! It was really starting to rain, but Zach asked if we could quickly get a few bridal party pictures before we left. Absolutely!! I don’t think you can even tell it was raining! Now that’s a great bridal party!! Time for the ceremony and reception… Zach’s little brother hid in the back seat of their car and then popped up to surprise them! SO CUTE!
Special thanks to Deborah of DG Photography for 2nd shooting for me.
Thank you to The Barn on Chapel Road and the Yutzy’s farm for allowing us to capture some of Zach and Arika’s portraits at your locations.
